H. 09:30/10:00 a.m. Arrival in Brescello (Reggio Emilia) by yourself. Brescello, ancient Roman town, rises on the Po river banks and it is also washed by the Enza river. Visit to “Peppone and Don Camillo” museum, which hosts play bills, documents, furnishings and other objects concerning their films. Meeting with the tourist guide and visit to “Peppone and Don Camillo” museum. (total length: H. 1:30) H. 12:40 p.m. You will go to the embarkation point by yourself. Embarkation and lunch on board (hors-d’oeuvre, two first courses, second course with vegetables, dessert, water, wine and coffee).
During the lunch the river ship will do a three hours go and back panoramic cruise along the great Po river and it will also cruise in the naturalistic oasis of the Isola degli Internati. H. 03:30/04:00 p.m. guests’ disembarkation. We suggest you to visit Gualtieri, beautiful small town along the Po river banks, whose cobblestone streets in the town centre gather around the splendid Piazza Bentivoglio, heart of the city life. Here you can admire Palazzo Bentivoglio and its interesting frescoed rooms (the most evocative is the “Salone dei Giganti”), the Museum of the naïve painter Antonio Ligabue and the Tirelli donation. In the square you will find Renaissance and Baroque elements; the collegiate church of Santa Maria della Neve and the town tower (with quadrangular plan) are looked to the square. Then you will go to Guastalla, fortress city of the Gonzaga family. Guastalla has Etruscan origins and since the 9th century it has been a Longobard garrison on the Po river. But Guastalla reached its maximum splendor thanks to the Gonzaga family, that brought there a lot of international artists and poets, such as the Guercino and the Tasso. Guastalla fell into decline at the end of the 15th century when Spanish threw down its walls. In the historical city centre you will admire the original bronze statue of Ferrante Gonzaga, the Palazzo Ducale, the Cathedral, the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary, the Theater (dated 1671) and the Maldotti library. The “Lido Po” is also a very suggestive place to visit.
